At this year’s Game Developers Conference, Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture showed off their summer release, Killer Is Dead.
Set in a cyberpunk world featuring a cybernetic assassin, Killer Is Dead continues the offbeat, but chaotic action found in Suda51′s earlier games. As these screenshots from All Games Beta suggest, the cell-shaded look of the game is similar to Killer 7 and No More Heroes, but is more defined in its high definition presentation.
More information regarding Killer Is Dead’s gameplay was also revealed at the GDC. Explosion states the game will have a episodic structure to it, allowing for a more complex story like a TV drama. As each new day passes in the game world, new missions and augmented villains will be available to the players. One cybernetic foe showcased at the GDC during “The Girl Who Lost Her Ear” episode was Victor, a skinless sound-based boss sporting a stolen pair of oversized earphones.
Speaking of earphones, Digital Trends reported that Killer Is Dead’s soundtrack is composed by Sillent Hill’s Akira Yamaoka. With Yamaoka on board, some spine-tingling music surely follow the game when it ships on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 later this year. Below are screenshots taken from Killer Is Dead. An English trailer for the game is available here.
